25th ANNIVERSARY: Megadisc Classics started in 1993 when Antwerp was Cultural Capital of Europe and the owner of Megadisc Ric Urmel found to his amazement that there were no CD recordings of the composer Karel Gœyvaerts.
Around the same time he met Patrick De Clerck, who after a production of his own music on Megadisc Classics was asked to produce the recordings of the works of Galina Ustvolskaya. These recordings are the “historic” ones.
Since 2011, a new artistic direction has developed the catalog of Megadisc Classics with the arrival of important composers such as Pierre Boulez, Philippe Hersant, Steve Reich, Lucien Guérinel, Charlemagne Palestine, Daniel Teruggi and Christian Zanési of the GRM – Groupe de Recherches Musicales – the composers Patricia Bosshard and Elisabeth Valletti. The label collaborates with fabulous musicians such as Tana Quartet, Diotima Quartet, Hugo Wolf Quartett, Quintette à Vent de Marseille, Marc Coppey, Arthur Aharonyan, David Bismuth, Cédric Tiberghien, Alice Ader, Matthieu Lécroart and Jean-Louis Roblin…
